This Saturday 01/11, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we will be selling cans of Straight Outta Middletown (10.00% ABV TIPA). $22 per 4-pk, 1 case per person, limits subject to change.
We are proud to be a part of the resurgence happening in downtown Middletown. More and more businesses are choosing Middletown as home and we are pumped to have so many new neighbors. To help continue breaking in our new space on South Street and to commemorate all of the awesome things happening here, we wanted to bring back, Straight Outta Middletown. SOM is dHop2s big brother. dHop2 is a DIPA that investigates the interplay between our ale strain and an intensive Mosaic and Citra forward hop bill woven four times into its creative process. It pours a very murky tangerine color, releasing notes of orange juice (with pulp) and earthy grass. The taste is highly resinous, dank-citrus, pine juice, with a chewy mouth feel and a firm and pointed bitterness along with our signature EQ Juice finish.
This Saturday 01/11, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we are releasing Shaved Kangaroo (10.25 % ABV TIPA). $22 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change. When we started making beer in 2009, we kept a list of names that we found funny. Top among those names, Shaved Kangaroo, has not become a beer until now for two reasons: 1) we were too embarrassed that we found it funny; and 2) the scarcity of Pacific Hops from Australia and New Zealand: Galaxy and Nelson. We have come to terms with our limited sense of humor and our hop suppliers and are pleased to bring you Shaved Kangaroo – with tasting notes of “Smooth and Hoppy”. During this beer’s life cycle from malted barley sugars, water, hops, and yeast to beer, 10’s of millions of acres have burned across Australia in the one of the country’s worst fire seasons on record. We will use this release to call attention to these unfortunate events happening there in an effort to help raise money for relief efforts. We will be raffling off some good prizes at this Saturday’s release with 100% of the proceeds being donated to firefighting efforts in Australia. Shaved Kangaroo starts off with a 2-row, oat malt, flaked oat, and torrefied wheat base and a whirlpool of Strata and Citra. The dry hop is exclusively loaded with some of our favorite pacific hops: Nelson and Galaxy. Shaved Kangaroo pours a vivid yellow orange with a crazy tropical dank aroma. It’s a super “smooth and hoppy” flavor explosion of tropical citrus, pineapple, clementine, gummy fruit snack candy, and red starburst. This beer is sweet and tropical with notes of white grape on the end with a big down under #EQjuice finish that will put a hoppy smile on your face and have you hopping around in no time!
This Saturday 01/11, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we are happy to introduce a new collaboration with The Eighth State Brewing Company, Super Fractal Phoenix Set (10.5 % ABV TIPA). $22 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.
When Cameron was up from South Carolina we knew we would be making a big imperial Black and White Cookie stout (a few more weeks on that). While we were talking recipes over some Fractal pours, we had the crazy idea to scale Fractal up 3x to create a crazy smooth crushable TIPA and SFPS was born!
The Phoenix set consists of values such that an arbitrarily small change can cause drastic changes in the sequence of iterated function values (duh) resulting in beautiful shapes and lots of spirals. Keeping with our fractal tradition, we started off with a super simple grain bill of 2row and our specific fractal fermentation profile. We used a big Citra and Idaho 7 whirlpool with some of our favorite hops in the dry hop: Citra, Sabro, Strata, and Galaxy. Super Fractal Phoenix Set pours an opaque yellow tangerine and has a big citrus nose. The flavors are a unique blend of tropical fruits, citrus, “our melon thing”, passionfruit, and an underlying dankness. This beer is extremely aromatic, crushable and smooth with an EXTREME #EQjuice profile that might just leave you seeing beautiful shapes and spirals.
This Saturday 01/11, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we are happy to introduce a new iteration of our ongoing collaboration with Three Chiefs Brewing Co.: Players 2, The Return To Players (11.0 % ABV). $18 per bottle, limit 4 bottles per person. Limit subject to change.
Players 2, The Return To Players (P2) is an American Imperial Stout brewed with Roasted Hazelnuts, Mostra Coffee Ghost Bear espresso blend, Madagascar Vanilla beans, and Fiji cacao nibs. P2 pours jet black with a beautiful tan head showcasing our first use of roasted hazelnuts at a rate of more than 20 lb/bbl which melds beautifully with the coffee beans to form a decadent hazelnut espresso. The vanilla and cocoa compliment the olfactory experience to give a sensation of after dinner Ferrero Rocher with expresso. The creamy flavor is a medley of the same with nutty espresso leading the way and the hazelnut balances out the sweetness of this giant stout to leave you ready for the next sip. No lactose was harmed in the making of this beer.
P2 has a thick viscosity and we recommend you drink it near room temperature to get the most out of these adjuncts and their respective interplay as the dynamics of the relative adjunct strength shift as the beer warms and time lengthens. Drink Fresh!
This Saturday 01/04, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we are happy to introduce a new collaboration with Vitamin Sea Brewing, Ocean Vibes (8.0 % ABV DIPA). $20 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.
Recent studies prove that a beach-type environment can have a profound impact on our brains and mental health. There is something soothing about the sound of ocean waves, the smell of salt water, and the feeling of warm sand beneath your toes. We feel these ocean vibes and the power of the pun, ‘Vitamin Sea’, definitely have some truth to them. We have also discovered another groundbreaking way to boost mind, body, and spirit to achieve the same effects; hang out with Dino and Mike from Vitamin Sea Brewing for an afternoon. These guys bring such genuinely good vibes and energy with them, we couldn’t wait to have them back to brew another tropical juice bomb.
Ocean Vibes starts with a base of 2row, white wheat, and oats before a Citra and Idaho7 whirlpool. We then dry hopped it with Citra Galaxy, and for the first time, Sabro. We wanted to give this beer a creamsicle like finish so we added a touch of lactose to balance things out. First sip will give you Ocean Vibes galore. Pouring a hazy opaque bright yellow, this beer is bursting with tropical notes and flavors of guava, pineapple, bright clementine and a touch of island coconut from our new friend, Sabro. The velvety mouthfeel is creamy with a hint of chewiness and reminiscent of a tropical flavored push-pop crossed with our big EQjuice finish. If winter has you feeling sluggish, you better get your vitamins in!
This Saturday 12/28, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we are happy to bring back a favorite, our collaboration with District 96 Beer Factory, Sexual Fluctuation (8.0 % ABV DIPA). $20 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.
D96 has a special place in our hearts. Sharing pilot batches long before we were Equilibrium, and they even tapped Equilibrium’s first commercial keg ever at their Burger Loft charity event. We’re grateful they have given us a home away from home. When D96 first made Sexual Frustration, John brought a keg up to our line share. As Sexual Frustration is very Galaxy forward and Equilibrium’s Fluctuation is very Citra forward, we thought why not do an 8% DIPA that would be like blending the two beers. Sexual Fluctuation was born.
Sexual Fluctuation is a Citra/Galaxy blend (incorporating the latest EQ hop technology). It pours a hazy tangerine orange and releases releasing aromas of passion fruit, peach, lime, and pineapple all integrated with a juicy twist. The taste is a bright creamy tropical sorbet flavor that is dangerously drinkable and balanced with a big EQjuice finish.
This Saturday 12/28, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we are happy to introduce a collaboration with Mortalis Brewing Company, Lupus Salictarius (10.5 % TIPA). $22 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.
It was great having Mortalis Brewing come to hang a few weeks ago. We all decided to pay homage to the Hops we use on a daily basis. Lupus Salictarius, which literally translates as “wolf of the willows”, is disputably the first hop plants and is said to be the botanical name immortalized by a famous Roman Philosopher (who is also an extremely tasty West Coast IPA. Respect). Tying into the Latin references Mortalis uses, we decided on a recipe that showcases some of our new favorite hops to pay homage to the OG of hops and Lupus Salictarius was born.
We started off with a base of 2 row, flaked oats and white wheat before adding a giant addition of Citra and Idaho7 in the whirlpool. We dry hopped with some of our favorites; Citra, Nelson, and Galaxy to finish it of with a big bang. This triple is an absolute explosion of tropical dankness. Big guava, sweet tangerine citrus, white grape, and a touch of passionfruit. It has a smooth but prominent chewy mouthfeel and has big notes of our signature #EQjuice that really showcases what these hops have to offer. In the coming weeks there will be one more collaboration with Mortalis coming around the bend.
This Saturday 12/21, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street (We’ve waited so long to type that) we are happy to bring back dC/dt (8.0% ABV) at $20 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.
Our newest iteration of dC/dt adds the Energy Treatment in a pursuit to pull the most intense flavor of this beer yet. The predictive juice model is represented by the gold line on the label and is actually a calibrated mathematical model of the EQ juice compared to data in “Relative Yuminess Units reported by Ryan, OG, and Colin. To test the insight gained by this model, we supersized an old favorite: Fractal Citra. A pale malt bill, with a large does of citra hops further manipulated with our latest hopping process.
dC/dt pours a hazy straw yellow and has bright aromas of freshly squeezed tropical OJ, grapefruit, and lime. The enhanced flavor is a very bright tropical medley consisting of OJ, melons, mango purée, and earth. It has a nice gummy resinous character and a soft bitterness to keep it refreshing sip-after-sip.
This Saturday 12/14, starting at 11:30am at the brewery, we will be selling Hop Wave 2 (8.5% DIPA). $20 per 4-pack, limit set at one case per person, limits subject to change.
Named one of RateBeer’s Best of 2018, Hop Wave 2 is back. It takes one of our favorite DIPAs, dHop2, supersizes the hop charge and adds a touch of lactose. Hop Wave 2 pours a very murky tangerine color, releasing notes of bright tropical juice, pulpy tangerine, and earthy grass. The taste is dank-citrus, pine juice, with an escalating big and bright EQjuice finish that builds into smooth hop frosting.
This Saturday 12/14, starting at 11:30am at the brewery, we will be selling dHop 19 (8.5% DIPA). $20 per 4-pack, limit set at one case per person, limits subject to change.
The dHop series was created to explore the abundance of malt bills and hops combinations. We’ve had all types of results. Beers have been really good and then really great. We are happy to report that the series has done its job again and has opened up the door to another favorite.
dHop 19 is our latest iteration in the series to make a big splash. It features a combination of some of our favorite hops. We started off with a blend of 2 row, white wheat, torrefied wheat, oat malt, and flaked oats before our all citra whirlpool and and our first ever 100% galaxy dry hop. The result is a very strong tropical nose with very pronounced fruit flavors. Smooth but pungent citrus and passionfruit flavors dominate with a very strong EQ juice buildup and an ending that leaves you with with a super soft mouthfeel and finish. We love this beer so much that it’s a high contender for promotion from our Research to Equilibrium Series and it may make its debut at our South Street Grand Opening.
