Food Runner/Busser
RUNNER/BUSSER

Job Type: Full-time, part-time

Equilibrium Brewery is a brewery in Middletown, NY that served its first beer in 2016. We make uncompromisingly great beer founded on scientific principles and a love for drinking craft beer.

We are looking for a dynamic food runner/busser with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for hospitality looking to work in a fun and professional environment. This person will be the liaison between FOH and BOH and will be responsible for bringing food to guest tables quickly and accurately.

Essential Job Duties

Responsibilities

  • Having working knowledge of floor plan
  • Bringing food to guest tables
  • Bussing/cleaning tables when guests are finished
  • Having working knowledge of menu
  • Help restock glasses, utensils, napkins and assist with other taproom needs as requested by Beertenders or Kitchen Staff
  • Maintain cleanliness of the taproom by sweeping floors and cleaning up spills
  • Provide the same level of customer service to your co-workers as you offer to guests

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Desired Qualifications & Abilities

Experience

  • 1 year of restaurant experience, willing to train the right candidate

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment while maintaining professional standards in demeanor and work efficiency
  • Detail oriented
  • Understands the importance of working within a team setting
  • Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly runner/busser wage ($8.35/hr) plus participation in tip pool. PTO, health, dental and vision available after eligibility period for full-time employees.

Line Cook

We are delighted to be bringing new jobs to Middletown, NY. Our facility (2-8 South Street) will be open seven days a week, offering a wide array of shifts for our kitchen, taproom and retail spaces. We are looking for employees who possess positive attitudes, integrity, highly honed communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Job Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Our kitchen is located within our taproom; it is an open format which makes all cooking staff visible to customers. Line Cooks will be expected to occasionally engage with customers while performing cooking duties and maintaining quality standards.
  • Line Cooks will be expected to provide the same level of customer service to their co-workers as they offer to guests.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • Answer, report and follow head or sous chef’s instructions
  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of craft beer.
  • Perform all duties according to Equilibrium procedures
  • Support Equilibrium brewing staff, preparing special ingredients for adjunct beer
  • Assist during private events and special releases as necessary
  • Collaborate with guest chefs and visiting brewers for special events

Dishwasher / Prep Cook

We are looking for employees who possess positive attitudes, integrity, highly honed communication skills and a willingness to learn.

In this position, you will maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards for glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc. using machine and manual cleaning methods. You will also ensure the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe, and sanitary facility and assist with prep cook duties as needed.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Dishwashing

  • Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware, and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through the dish machine
  • Sort and stack clean dishes, carry clean dishes to cooks’ line and other proper storage areas, rewash soiled dishes before delivering
  • Change dishwater in dish machine every hour
  • Wash pots, pans, and trays by hand
  • Set up or break down dishwashing area
  • Fill/empty soak tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions
  • Assemble/disassemble dish machine
  • Notify manager any time dish machine wash or rinse cycle falls below safety standard temperatures

Maintain Cleanliness of Area

  • Remove trash and garbage to dumpster
  • Sweep/mop floors
  • Sweep up trash around exterior of restaurant and garbage dumpster
  • Conduct general taproom and restroom cleaning as directed
  • Wipe up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Desired Qualifications & Abilities

Experience

Minimum 1 year dishwasher experience preferred but not necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proper practice of sanitation and general hygiene
  • Must be able to perform in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Be physically able to lift, reach, bend, and stoop
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
