#4science2 and 3!

on January 25, 2018 No comments

Making beer #4science continues. In addition to TABA Blackberry/Raspberry, this Saturday 01/27 we’ll be offering both #4science2 and #4science3(both at 6.5% ABV) for side-by-side comparison at $16 per four pack, limit of 1 case of each per person (limits subject to change).

Science requires large amounts of unbiased data so we’re going to do this release a little differently. Rather than give you guys tasting notes from Pete and Ryan, which can influence peoples perceptions, we want to hear what you guys taste and which one you like better. Low-fill cans of course will be provided for sampling prior to the release as usual. Here’s some information we will provide:

Water treatment: Same
Grain Bill: Same
Fermentation Strain and profile: Same
Hop Bill in 4s3: This is a fairly popular hop that we’ve oddly never used before. 4s3 is brewed exclusively with this hop
Hop Bill in 4s2: is 50% the Hop Bill in 4s3 and 50% citra
Adjuncts: None

Why would people do this? The person who posts the closest description for both compared to the notes provided by Pete and Ryan will win a magnum of TABA Blackberry/Raspberry to be picked up at a later date. Data is valuable to us so we’ll offer compensation. Mostly this should just be fun.

Details on how you can enter will be posted Saturday Morning on social media.

TABA B/R!

on January 24, 2018 No comments

This Saturday, 01/27 at the brewery from 11:30am-6pm, we will be releasing There and Back Again Blackberry/Raspberry (6% ABV). $16 per bottle. Limit set at 6pp (subject to change)

There and Back Again is a tale of a spontaneous fermentation, isolation, confiscation, rejuvenation, mutation, and finally perturbation. This sour American wild ale is a collaborative effort with our dear friend Dr. Jason Rodriguez. We took our house “honey badger” mixed culture (no saccharomyces) and allowed it to ferment and sour over several months before refermenting it on both blackberries and raspberries.

The union of both blackberries and raspberries gives this beer a great jammy flavor and mouthfeel with a pleasant balance of sweet and tart flavors from the fruit. With all of our spontaneously fermented beers, it’s boosted by the tropical expression of our microorganisms. This beer is unfiltered, unpasteurized, naturally carbonated and will continue to evolve over time if properly cellared.
More to come….

EQ/D96 Collab

on January 17, 2018 No comments

This Saturday 01/20 from 11:30am-6pm at the brewery we will have cans of our District 96 collab Sexual Fluctuation (8% ABV) for sale. $20 per four pack limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change. We have packaged 250 cases for this release.

District 96 has a special place in our hearts. They were drinking with us in NY, visiting places in VT, sharing pilot batches long before we were Equilibrium, and they even tapped Equilibrium’s first commercial keg ever at their Burger Loft charity event. We’re grateful they have given us a home away from home. (Note: this beer is not as sweet as this post; no lactose used). When D96 first made Sexual Frustration, John brought a keg up to our line share. As Sexual Frustration is very Galaxy forward and Equilibrium’s Fluctuation is very Citra forward, we though why not do an 8% DIPA that would be like blending the two beers. Sexual Fluctuation was born. Sexual Fluctuation is a slight departure from “normal” sexuality, for example, a rugged lumberjack with hair so flowing and silky it makes women wish they were born this man. All are welcome to drink this beer. Please share one with your favorite Lumber Sexual today. (He will be pouring tasters with us Sat AM and we will be holding an after party at the Burger Loft at 6pm)

Sexual Fluctuation is a Citra/Galaxy blend (incorporating the same tweaks to the last batch of Fluctuation). It pours a hazy tangerine orange and releases releasing aromas of passion fruit, peach, lime, and pineapple all integrated with a juicy twist. The taste is a bright creamy tropical sorbet flavor that is dangerously drinkable and balanced. This beer takes dHop5’s lunch money and gives it a wedgie.

More to come!

This Saturday, 01/13 from 11:30am-6pm, alongside Fluctuation, we will be releasing dHop7. $20 per four pack with a 1-case limit per person. Limits are subject to change.
dHop7 is a blend of FIVE different hops that showcases Vic Secret, a first for the series. This flavor profile exudes guava, papaya and lime with faint notes of pine. dHop7 clocks in at 8.0% ABV. It pours an opaque yellow with a nose reminiscent of tropical fruits and citrus. The taste is dank and tropical with an assertive hop bitterness.
