Sexual Fluctuation!

on April 18, 2018 No comments

This Saturday 04/21 from 1 PM-6pm at the brewery we will have cans of our District 96 collab Sexual Fluctuation (8% ABV) for sale. $20 per four pack limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change. Please note the special time this weekend, which will allow us time to get back from Other Half.

Some other things about Saturday’s release:

– We plan on hanging out all afternoon for the nice weather and continuing the share
– There will be experimental Brisket
– Joe will be slinging breakfast sandwiches as usual and switch it up to burgers and dogs in the afternoon
– We will be pouring the two OH beers onsite starting at noon (or when we get back from Brooklyn)
– We will also be pouring SF, a new beer to be announced today (also will be in cans), and Johnny and his perfect hair will pour some D96 beer
– There will be a charity mag raffle and cornhole tournament (details coming soon)

District 96 Beer Factory has a special place in our hearts. They were drinking with us in NY, visiting places in VT, sharing pilot batches long before we were Equilibrium, and they even tapped Equilibrium’s first commercial keg ever at their Burger Loft charity event. We’re grateful they have given us a home away from home. (Note: this beer is not as sweet as this post; no lactose used). When D96 first made Sexual Frustration, John brought a keg up to our line share. As Sexual Frustration is very Galaxy forward and Equilibrium’s Fluctuation is very Citra forward, we though why not do an 8% DIPA that would be like blending the two beers. Sexual Fluctuation was born. Sexual Fluctuation is a slight departure from “normal” sexuality, for example, a rugged lumberjack with hair so flowing and silky it makes women wish they were born this man. All are welcome to drink this beer. Please share one with your favorite Lumber Sexual today. (He will be pouring tasters with us Sat AM and we will be holding an after party at the Burger Loft).

Sexual Fluctuation is a Citra/Galaxy blend (incorporating the latest EQ hop technology). It pours a hazy tangerine orange and releases releasing aromas of passion fruit, peach, lime, and pineapple all integrated with a juicy twist. The taste is a bright creamy tropical sorbet flavor that is dangerously drinkable and balanced. This beer takes dHop5’s lunch money and gives it a wedgie.

TICKETS WILL BE HANDED OUT STARTING AT 7am for the 1PM SALE.

Middletown Murk

on April 12, 2018 No comments

This Saturday 4/14 from 11:30am-6pm at the brewery, along with MC^2, we will be selling cans of Middletown Murk (8.2%) at $20 per four pack with a 1-case limit per person. Limits are subject to change.

To celebrate the start of our taproom journey, we want to thank to the city of Middletown and its inhabitants for being so supportive of us producing and slinging our local haze. We present a tribute in the form of our latest beer: Middletown Murk. Our murk; i.e. haze, come from hops and our evolving hopping process. This will be a mini series of beers investigating the expansion of our haze program with additions of oats, wheat, lactose, and other adjuncts in combination with our favorite hops and EQs hopping process while we work on the expansion of our Middletown taproom. This base batch has a touch of oats in it for the first time [limit: 1 joke per person. – Pete Oates] and pours a murky orange with notes of citrus zest, pineapple, and cherry with a bready support. The taste is tropical and bready with a firm hop bitterness for balance and drinkability.

MC^2

This Saturday 4/14 from 11:30am-6pm at the brewery, we will be selling cans of MC² at $18 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.
MC² (8.0% ABV) is Photon’s big brother. We literally took Photon’s hopping rate and squared it. This DIPA is our tribute to the amazing relationship that energy and mass are balanced, proportional to the speed of a photon squared. It pours a hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of mango, pineapple, and apricot. MC² tastes like succulent mango juice loaded with chewy hop resins. This newest batch once again showcases the new school EQ juice finish we have been after.

Now & Later!

on April 10, 2018 No comments

Hey Syracuse! This Saturday 4/14 at 11 AM, we have a pop up mobile can sale of limited cases of dHop5 and dHop10 and tap takeover at Now & Later Bar.

To further help upstate-NY beer drinkers outside of our distribution territory access our beer with a bit more ease, we are partnering up with Jason Purdy of Now & Later and our old friend Mikey Metaxas. In December 2016, Jason purchased some of our first production beer ever and he developed a great working relationship and friendship with Ricardo. Mikey has been with us since we were riding around chasing whales and sampling Pete’s home brew. We are very excited about this partnership and the EQ crew will be there in person to celebrate at the Now & Later event. Please check out Now & Later in the coming days for full details.

New Building Announcement

on April 9, 2018 No comments

We are beyond thrilled to announce that Equilibrium Brewery is finally getting a ‪taproom‬! Since our first release February 2017, we feel a connection to the beer community that is stronger than ever. This last year was amazing – even with just a few hundred square feet of pavement and freezing temperatures – we experienced epic shares, people sleeping in vans overnight, experimental beers, boiz crazy for haze, people punting tekus, descendants of Genghis Khan, scantily clad chuggers, bed pan meatballs, surprise magnum winners, people out of equilibrium, and several other antics that counsel has stricken from this post. From all this insanity, it was clear that it wasn’t flashy lights… or heat… or protection from the elements… or things needed by humans for basic survival… that made Saturday mornings so amazing. Rather, it is the beer community itself that generates the experience. As this community grows, we are thrilled to see Middletown locals joining in shares and releases (thank you for the cupcakes last weekend!). We want to give the people creating this experience the space to enhance it further. The new building will create the proper environment to enjoy our liquid, which should be the very space that the liquid itself was conceptually constructed, tested, executed, refined, and conditioned.

Below are the high-level basics and some QnA we’ve received.
Basics of the new location:
* Where: A few blocks away from our current location (see attached map)
* When: ASAP. We hope to have the share area/beer garden completed in Fall 2018 and the indoor ‪taproom‬ the following winter.
* Intent: Further the amazing community experience, establish sour and stout barrel programs, smoke brisket and add Argentinian BBQ, play bags and drink without concern, enjoy life and share stories over EQ liquid and beers worldwide.
QnA:
* Where will the can/bottle releases be? Releases will continue at the current space for now. As soon as we are licensed, we will move the releases to the 5,000 sq ft outdoor share area (see map).
* Will there be food? Yes. Joe’s Breakfast sandwiches aren’t going anywhere. We will add a big smoker for Pete’s Brisket and other goodies, and a parrilla for Ricardo and Chino to work some South American BBQ magic. We are also in discussion to work with our good friends from Holy Dog and ‪Mix N Mac‬.
* Are you getting bigger tanks? Nope. Our beer is getting better and better on the tank size we have and we’re going to keep it that way. The End.
* When will you start barrel aging? We hope to have pilot barrels of sours and stouts in a few weeks and we’ll expand this organically as we become comfortable with the process and the behavior of our base beers and adjuncts.

We are all extremely grateful for your support and the opportunity to do what we love, with the people we love, and share our beer with this community.
On behalf of everyone from Equilibrium Brewery,
Thank you!

dHop10

on April 5, 2018 No comments

This Saturday 4/7 from 11:30am-6pm at the brewery, alongside dHop5 we will be selling cans of dHop10. $20 per four pack with a 1-case limit per person. Limits are subject to change.

dHop10 is a 8.5% DIPA using a blend of FOUR different hops while utilizing the same grain bill as dHop5. This flavor profile exudes pineapple, pear and lime with faint notes of pine and cannabis. It pours a hazy straw yellow with a nose reminiscent of tropical fruits. The taste is dank and tropical with a mild hop bitterness while having a mouthfeel that is both creamy and pillowy.

dHop5

It’s Back!

This Saturday 4/7 from 11:30am-6pm at the brewery we are pleased to announce the return of dHop5. $20 per 4-pack, limit set at one case per person, limits subject to change.
dHop 5 is a 8.5% DIPA that supersizes one of our favorite Equilibrium IPAs: Fractal Citra/Galaxy. We scaled Fractal’s grain bill, water treatment, fermentation, and super sized the hop bill of citra and galaxy. dHop5 pours a milky straw yellow (milk>haze) releasing aromas of passion fruit, peach, lime, and pineapple all integrated with a sorbet twist. The taste is a bright creamy tropical flavor that is dangerously drinkable and balanced.

More to come…
