Ricardo and Will are headed to the U.K this week to pour our beer for the very first time there. Hop City 2018 is a hop forward beer festival in Leeds, England featuring some of the best hoppy beers from all over the world. If you are attending the festival be sure to grab some Fluctuation and dHop 8!

In addition to Even More Unbalanced, This Saturday 3/24 at the brewery from 11:30am-6:00pm we will be selling cans of dHop9 at $20 per four pack, 1 case per person. Limits are subject to change.

dHop9 – Think dHop5 but with another one of our favorite hop combos from the fractal series: Citra and Mosaic. dHop9 (8.5% ABV) is a DIPA that supersizes one of our favorite Equilibrium IPAs: Fractal Citra/Mosaic. We scaled Fractal’s grain bill, water treatment, fermentation, and super sized the hop bill of our new high oil citra and mosaic. dHop9 pours a milky straw yellow releasing notes of orange juice (with pulp), dank citrus, and earthy grass. The taste is highly resinous, dank pineapple juice, pine and a touch of melon. dHop9 possesses a chewy mouth feel with a firm, pointed bitterness.

In addition to cans of Vulgar Display of Flower and MC² we will be selling crowlers of the second half of this batch of our imperial stout, General Relativity (9.81% ABV) tomorrow. Limit set at 3 per person, $15 each. We will also have crowlers of dHop8, Mobius and TABA available.

Prior to the release we will also be pouring two pilot batches of General Relativity for you, both treated with new adjuncts.

A note to anyone joining us for the first time tomorrow, when you arrive please get a ticket from the line attendant to secure your spot prior to participating in the share.

This Saturday 3/17 from 11:30am-6pm at the brewery, alongside Vulgar Display of Flower we will be selling cans of MC² at $18 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.

MC² (8.0% ABV) is Photon’s big brother. We literally took Photon’s hopping rate and squared it. This DIPA is our tribute to the amazing relationship that energy and mass are balanced, proportional to the speed of a photon squared. It pours a hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of mango, pineapple, and apricot. MC² tastes like succulent mango juice loaded with chewy hop resins. We are very pleased with this batch as it showcases the new school EQ juice finish we have been experimenting with.

Vulgar Display of Flower (8.5% ABV) is a tribute to an aggressive yet balanced assault on the senses. It blends East-meets-West coast DIPA with our own Equilibrium twist. It is dry, bitter, piny, resinous, yet remains smooth, juicy, and drinkable. This concoction displays the hop flower’s assertive yet delicious nature.

Dhop8 is one of our most ambitious experiments to date. We created a parameter space to maximize organoleptic hop oils in the glass. As a result of this very interesting process, this Citra/Amarillo DIPA is naturally carbonated from refermentation of sugars during dry hopping. This is a first for Equilibrium (and is what we expected). Dhop8 is packed with hop oils and pours a very hazy tangerine releasing notes of intense citrus, zest, orange/pineapple, and sweetarts. This process produces a uniquely velvety and full mouthfeel with a flavor that follows the aroma. We will certainly be experimenting more with this technique and potentially make it standard with several of our hoppy offerings moving forward.

Our first Stout is ready!

In addition to dHop1 this Saturday, we are pleased to release our first American Imperial Stout: General Relativity. It will be available in crowlers at $15 per crowler, limit of 3 crowlers per person (limits subject to change).

Weighing in at exactly 9.81% ABV, General Relativity is our study of gravity. General Relativity’s final gravity is higher than photons initial gravity. This boosts mouthfeel and body, which is already complimented by an aggressive dark-grain water profile. This beer pours viscous black releasing aromas of roasted coffee, chocolate, toasted marshmallow, vanilla, sugar cane, with a touch of dark fruit out of khaki-mousse head. Its flavor fallows the aroma with a full creamy body and an aggressive bitterness to balance the sweet, which maintains its drinkability. Be careful, this beer can sneak up on you. We plan on pouring adjuncted versions for onsite consumption only during our line share.

dHop is our DIPA series that investigates how changing different aspects of hops changes our DIPAs, which will allow us to optimize our hops and hopping procedure. dHop1 is our 8.5% DIPA with an intense mosaic forward hop bill. This latest iteration is converging on what we like to drink. Applying what we’ve learned from this series, we were able to pull a very bright and tropical mosaic. It pours a very lively tangerine color, releasing notes of bright citrus, tropical melon, cream, and just a touch of dank earth. The taste is a juicy piney tropical melon, with layers of hop resins that roll around the tongue making it extremely drinkable.
