Sexual Fluctuation

on December 26, 2019 No comments

This Saturday 12/28, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we are happy to bring back a favorite, our collaboration with District 96 Beer Factory, Sexual Fluctuation (8.0 % ABV DIPA). $20 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.

D96 has a special place in our hearts. Sharing pilot batches long before we were Equilibrium, and they even tapped Equilibrium’s first commercial keg ever at their Burger Loft charity event. We’re grateful they have given us a home away from home. When D96 first made Sexual Frustration, John brought a keg up to our line share. As Sexual Frustration is very Galaxy forward and Equilibrium’s Fluctuation is very Citra forward, we thought why not do an 8% DIPA that would be like blending the two beers. Sexual Fluctuation was born.

Sexual Fluctuation is a Citra/Galaxy blend (incorporating the latest EQ hop technology). It pours a hazy tangerine orange and releases releasing aromas of passion fruit, peach, lime, and pineapple all integrated with a juicy twist. The taste is a bright creamy tropical sorbet flavor that is dangerously drinkable and balanced with a big EQjuice finish.

Lupus Salictarius

on December 24, 2019 No comments

This Saturday 12/28, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we are happy to introduce a collaboration with Mortalis Brewing Company, Lupus Salictarius (10.5 % TIPA). $22 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.

It was great having Mortalis Brewing come to hang a few weeks ago. We all decided to pay homage to the Hops we use on a daily basis. Lupus Salictarius, which literally translates as “wolf of the willows”, is disputably the first hop plants and is said to be the botanical name immortalized by a famous Roman Philosopher (who is also an extremely tasty West Coast IPA. Respect). Tying into the Latin references Mortalis uses, we decided on a recipe that showcases some of our new favorite hops to pay homage to the OG of hops and Lupus Salictarius was born.

We started off with a base of 2 row, flaked oats and white wheat before adding a giant addition of Citra and Idaho7 in the whirlpool. We dry hopped with some of our favorites; Citra, Nelson, and Galaxy to finish it of with a big bang. This triple is an absolute explosion of tropical dankness. Big guava, sweet tangerine citrus, white grape, and a touch of passionfruit. It has a smooth but prominent chewy mouthfeel and has big notes of our signature #EQjuice that really showcases what these hops have to offer. In the coming weeks there will be one more collaboration with Mortalis coming around the bend.

dC/dt

This Saturday 12/21, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street (We’ve waited so long to type that) we are happy to bring back dC/dt (8.0% ABV) at $20 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.

Our newest iteration of dC/dt adds the Energy Treatment in a pursuit to pull the most intense flavor of this beer yet. The predictive juice model is represented by the gold line on the label and is actually a calibrated mathematical model of the EQ juice compared to data in “Relative Yuminess Units reported by Ryan, OG, and Colin. To test the insight gained by this model, we supersized an old favorite: Fractal Citra. A pale malt bill, with a large does of citra hops further manipulated with our latest hopping process.

dC/dt pours a hazy straw yellow and has bright aromas of freshly squeezed tropical OJ, grapefruit, and lime. The enhanced flavor is a very bright tropical medley consisting of OJ, melons, mango purée, and earth. It has a nice gummy resinous character and a soft bitterness to keep it refreshing sip-after-sip.

Hop Wave 2

on December 12, 2019 No comments

This Saturday 12/14, starting at 11:30am at the brewery, we will be selling Hop Wave 2 (8.5% DIPA). $20 per 4-pack, limit set at one case per person, limits subject to change.

Named one of RateBeer’s Best of 2018, Hop Wave 2 is back. It takes one of our favorite DIPAs, dHop2, supersizes the hop charge and adds a touch of lactose. Hop Wave 2 pours a very murky tangerine color, releasing notes of bright tropical juice, pulpy tangerine, and earthy grass. The taste is dank-citrus, pine juice, with an escalating big and bright EQjuice finish that builds into smooth hop frosting.

dHop19

This Saturday 12/14, starting at 11:30am at the brewery, we will be selling dHop 19 (8.5% DIPA). $20 per 4-pack, limit set at one case per person, limits subject to change.

The dHop series was created to explore the abundance of malt bills and hops combinations. We’ve had all types of results. Beers have been really good and then really great. We are happy to report that the series has done its job again and has opened up the door to another favorite.

dHop 19 is our latest iteration in the series to make a big splash. It features a combination of some of our favorite hops. We started off with a blend of 2 row, white wheat, torrefied wheat, oat malt, and flaked oats before our all citra whirlpool and and our first ever 100% galaxy dry hop. The result is a very strong tropical nose with very pronounced fruit flavors. Smooth but pungent citrus and passionfruit flavors dominate with a very strong EQ juice buildup and an ending that leaves you with with a super soft mouthfeel and finish.
We love this beer so much that it’s a high contender for promotion from our Research to Equilibrium Series and it may make its debut at our South Street Grand Opening.

Time

on December 5, 2019 No comments

This Saturday 12/7, starting at 11:30 am at the brewery, we are happy to introduce Time, our newest IPA (6.25 % ABV) at $16 per 4-pk, limit 1 case per person. Limit subject to change.

Time is the fundamental thread in the fabric of reality. It is the most valuable commodity we have. It’s even the reason some people wear a clock around their neck. The passing of time is closely connected to the concept of space and something that should be valued, treasured, and enjoyed.

Time is the 6.25% version of dHop5 with our energy treatment. Citra and Galaxy layer flavors on the base of mixture of torrefied and white wheat and finishes with the most hops per barrel we’ve put in an IPA yet. It pours a bright yellow and has aroma of just cut orange slices with a hint of peach. The flavors are bright citrus, pineapple, and stone fruit with a super easy drinking soft finish with a light grapefruit bite.

EQ de Jamaica

on December 5, 2019 No comments

This Saturday 12/7, starting at 11:30 am at the brewery, we are excited to introduce, EQ De Jamaica, (6.0% ABV Wild Ale) at $18 per 750ml (Limit 6) and $10 per 375ml (Limit 3). Limit subject to change.

Winter is here but EQ De Jamaica (Hah- My- Cah) transports us to a warmer climate. We wanted to play off the common aguas fresca drinks served on the islands made by steeping hibiscus and other ingredients to make infused beverages. The result is a complex and elegant farmhouse ale infused with pineapple, hibiscus, lime zest, and local honey from Honeybrook Farms in Pine Bush, NY.

EQ De Jamaica pours a beautiful golden copper yellow and releases an earthy and subtle tropical aroma. It’s flavor is a balanced tartness with notes of pineapple, light cranberry and hibiscus, notes of chardonnay, citrus zest all bundled together with beautifully light but integrated honey backbone. It has a balanced and dry mineral like finish that’s complex and full of depth with our pleasant funk. We find this wild ale perfect on its own or as a companion for food pairings with Friends and Family.

Straight Outta The Marshmallow Laboratory

on December 4, 2019 No comments

This Saturday 12/7, starting at 11:30 am at the brewery, we will sell Straight Outta The Marshmallow Laboratory, a collaboration with our good friends Evil Twin Brewing NYC (10.2% ABV TIPA) at $24 per 4-pk, limit 1 case per person. Limit subject to change.

Recently, we told you about a Saturday night spent in Ridgewood checking out Jeppe’s beautiful new brewery. The conversation of hops, marshmallows, and what if’s lead to a test batch of a collaborative effort, Straight Outta The Marshmallow Laboratory. It was served both at Equilibrium and Evil Twin and after some great feedback and slight tweaks to the original recipe we decided to package it.

We’ve worked hard to really integrate the marshmallow flavor with the tropical notes from the hops while reducing the marshmellow sweetness in a revised process from the pilot batch. We are really happy with the result. SOTML pours a hazy orange and notes of orange marshmellow creamsicle immediately fill the air when cracked open. The flavor follows with bright tropical fruits infused with pillowy marshmallow and creamy vanilla notes. The beer finishes soft and velvety with a beautiful EQjuice profile.
