Galactic Time Wave

on January 14, 2021 No comments

Today at Noon, we will bring you our first collaboration with Modern Times Beer, Galactic Time Wave (8.5% DIPA) at $20 per four pack. No Limit! We will have this available for pre-order with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Nebraska, and Kentucky!!

Galactic Time Wave was built over a zoom call with our friend, Andrew, from Modern Times. Sharing our love for all things galactic, we started off with a cushy base of flaked oats and wheat before a whirlpool of hand selected Galaxy. When it was time to dry hop, we went with Galaxy and Strata to make this beer straight dank juice. Deep saturated flavors of passionfruit, pineapple, lime gummy worms, and triple berry kush lead into creamy mouthfeel and our #EQjuice finish. Galactic fruit flavors with a dank herbal connection makes this beer a perfect companion to look up at the night sky and ponder our Solar System, Milky Way, the gaseous spiral arms, and how it connects to your own time line.

…and YES! There is a galactic stout being concocted with MT.

Today at Noon, we will sell, Little Adjunct Integration (5.5% Pastry Pale Ale) at $18 per four pack. No Limit! We will have this available for pre-order with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Nebraska!
When we held our EQ Create poll, the Community Juice series was born and you helped us come up with Adjunct Integration. We liked that beer so much, we decided to make it in a Pale Ale form. We took added EVERY adjunct option listed in the poll weighted by its voting frequency to make Little Adjunct Integration.
With our pale ale base, we added Citra, Sabro, and Simcoe to the whirlpool and a dry hop of Citra, Galaxy, Nelson, Sabro, and Simcoe before conditioning it on Vanilla, Marshmallow, Lactose, Cara Cara Orange, Lime, and Lemon Zest.
Little Adjunct Integration has an aroma and flavors of glazed orange pound cake, mango, and stone fruit with a zesty but fluffy marshmallow finish in a light and creamy body with a refreshing guilt free finish.

Lupus Salictarius

Today at Noon, we will sell, Lupus Salictarius (10.5 % TIPA) a collaboration with

Mortalis Brewing Company

. $22 per four pack.No Limit! We will have this available for pre-order with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Nebraska!

Paying homage to the Hops we use on a daily basis. Lupus Salictarius, which literally translates as “wolf of the willows”, is disputably the first hop plants and is said to be the botanical name immortalized by a famous Roman Philosopher (who is also an extremely tasty West Coast IPA. Respect). Tying into the Latin references Mortalis uses, we decided on a recipe that showcases some of our new favorite hops to pay homage to the OG of hops and Lupus Salictarius was born.
We started off with a base of 2 row, flaked oats and white wheat before adding a giant addition of Citra and Idaho7 in the whirlpool. We dry hopped with some of our favorites; Citra, Nelson, and Galaxy to finish it off with a big bang. This triple is an absolute explosion of tropical dankness. Big guava, sweet tangerine citrus, white grape, a touch of passionfruit and New Zealand grass. It has a smooth but prominent chewy mouthfeel and has big notes of our signature #EQjuice that really showcases what these hops have to offer.

Before we added more of the base to barrels for the second batch of the BA version, we made a little extra of our acclaimed concoction with Brandon on his recent visit to release it fresh as well. We kept all the adjuncts exactly the same for this beer. After the base was ready, we conditioned it on Brandon’s favorite coffee from home in Richmond, VA;

Rostov’s Coffee

Swiss Chocolate Almond roast along with Almonds and Marshmallow.

The result is a beautifully decadent hot chocolate brownie stout laced with a rich nutty flavor from the almonds and a slightly sweet magical marshmallow finish with just enough coffee to cut through any sweetness. The short version – this beer drinks like a bowl of rocky road ice cream.

Relative rates it’s a continuation of our dC/dt line of beers, which explores how something changes relative to the rate of change of something else with goal to understand and tune the process that give rise to our EQ juice.
Relative Rates uses a blend of modern hops and pours a hazy bright yellow. We get whiffs of tropical fruit, citrus, sweet tangerine and weed on nose. It’s flavor is tropical fruit, big citrus, plenty of melon with and undercurrent of faint strawberry.
The finish is resinous but starts off soft before the juicy undertones take the lead. Think warm breeze, bright sun and beach drinks made of OJ, Melon and Berry with our signature #EQJuice profile.

Shaved Kangaroo

Today at Noon, we will sell, Shaved Kangaroo (10.25 % TIPA) at $22 per four pack. No Limit! We will have this available for pre-order with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Nebraska!
When we started making beer in 2009, we kept a list of names that we found funny. Top among those names, Shaved Kangaroo, a name we were hesitant to use at first, but the more we thought about it, the more it made sense. A beer made with Pacific Hops from Australia and New Zealand: Galaxy and Nelson with tasting notes of “Smooth and Hoppy”.
Shaved Kangaroo starts off with a 2-row, oat malt, flaked oat, and torrefied wheat base and a whirlpool of Idaho 7 and Citra. The dry hop is exclusively loaded with some of our favorite pacific hops: Nelson and Galaxy. Shaved Kangaroo pours a vivid yellow orange with a crazy tropical dank aroma. It’s a super “smooth and hoppy” flavor explosion of tropical citrus, pineapple, clementine, peach, gummy fruit snack candy, and red starburst. This beer is like tropical nectar with notes of white grape on the end with a big down under #EQjuice finish that will put a hoppy smile on your face and have you hopping around in no time!

Unlikely Foragers Foeder

on January 4, 2021 No comments
Today, we will release our first ever Foeder beer – 2020 vintage of Unlikely Foragers (6.0% Farmhouse Ale), which is a collaboration with beer community and our dear friend Averie Swanson from Keeping Together at $15 per 750ml bottle and $10 per 375ml. We will have this available for pre-order with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Beer is community. This series is inspired by friends wanting to gather and forage beer ingredients. Past vintages typically feature the foragers foraging. 2020 was different for many reasons. We were unable to gather during this strange moment in our species timeline. We were super fortunate to work on this ale with our dear friend Averie Swanson from Keeping Together as a collaborative effort. This is Equilibrium’s first beer out of a foeder. While 2020 was particularly challenging time, we take many important lessons that we should remember: listen, inspire, innovate, pause, reflect, connect, commit, appreciate, figure out new ways to live and not let life get in the way of living.
This year’s batch uses a refined process to produce an elegant farmhouse ale with a balanced acidity that is dry, slightly tart, full of flavor, and super drinkable. The beer pours a bright yellow with a white rocky head releasing aromas of tropical lemon, floral dandelion, light funk, bright hay, and slight vanilla from the new oak. The taste is dry with a nice white wine minerality and a gentle tartness to stimulate the palate all integrated in a balanced drink. This beer is unfiltered, unpasteurized, naturally carbonated and will continue to evolve over time if properly cellared. We prefer to let the beer cellar, place in the fridge the night before, and pour out the entirety of the bottle in the appropriate stem ware (but your way will produce a fine experience regardless). Enjoy!

dHop 28

Today at 2pm, we will sell dHop 28 (8.5% DIPA) at $20 per 4-pk, no limit. We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, and Virginia.
We have a new iteration in our experimental dHop series today that focuses on Sultana. dHop 28 starts with flaked oats and white wheat for a soft base before we hopped it with Sultana for the first time. We also added some support from Citra and Galaxy. Sultana grows as a big hop cone in the fields and is known for a huge flavor profile of pineapple, citrus, and pine.
dHop 28 pours vibrant yellow with aromas and flavors of bright pineapple, navel orange, pine, passionfruit, and fresh cut grass. This beer taste like it smells with hints of honey dew melon and a nice pointed bitterness to bring you to the next sip.
