This Saturday 8/11 from 11:30AM – 6PM at the brewery, we will be debut cans of dHop14 (limit 4 4packs person; *see Below) and Hop Wave 14 (Limit 1 case per person), both at $20 per four pack. Limits are subject to change.
It’s been an exciting few weeks at Equilibrium. We had a small-scale experiment that we consider a breakthrough for our hop program and we had a glycol chiller attempt to weld Ricardo to the roof. We were able to trigger an intense amount of the “EQ juice” at the small scale for the first time in a very controlled environment. Subsequently, we have developed and solved a full set of differential equations and have been working on fitting parameters to understand and optimize this very complex dynamic. dHop14 and Hop Wave 14 are our first attempt to upscale and apply our new understanding. While we still have a few things to figure out, we are very happy with this first attempt and this will shape our hop program to come.
dHop14 pours a very hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of peach, mango, and cantaloupe with undercurrents of sorbet and cream. The flavor follows the nose with a soft body, resinous juicy middle, and mild bitterness for balance. Hop Wave 14 is a suped-up version of dHop14 with a touch of lactose. The aroma and flavor are more intense with touch of vanilla sweetness and extra smoothness from the lactose. Our experiments are currently on high as we continue to refine and understand what happened at the large scale and we expect amazing beers to come as we further dial this in.
*Below – Unfortunately we had a mechanical failure during our canning run of one of our glycol chillers. We made the decision keg most of dHop14 rather than produce cans we were not happy with. As a result we only have 60 cases available for sat AM plus Thursdays allotment for locals. Hop Wave 14 was a normal canning run.
