Colors affect memories, cause emotions, and generate experiences. The world’s favorite color is blue. Blue is a very prominent color on earth from nitrogen scattering blue photons in the sky, yet true blue is a surprisingly hard color to come by in nature. Most blue animals scatter and cancel light but are not truly blue. Only the obrina olivewing butterfly produces a true-blue pigment. Most plants absorb blue light because of its relatively higher energy content and kick back green photons, which is why plants look green to us. Most blue dyes are made from petroleum products. One of the rare blue pigments found in nature comes from a special form of Spirulina Algae. Its natural, fully sustainable, has minimal smell and taste, and even provides anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
In a year with limited travel and reinvention of all things across our spectrum of life, we wanted to do something fun and new with our fam from Vitamin Sea Brewing to incorporate all aspects mentioned above. We took one of our favorited DIPA grain bills and blended in a special form of blue Spirulina and aged this beer on raw coconut flakes and lime juice before dry hopping it with Victorian Galaxy, Sabro, BRU-1, and citrus zest. This unique elixir pours a stunning cobalt blue with amazing head retention and teleports you to your favorite bar that you discovered on your favorite vacation. Lime and assorted citrus lead the way supported a tropical hop accents that all get balanced by raw coconut to complete the tiki profile. The taste is as tropical as the smell with a juicy finish from the citrus reminiscent of a skinny cocktail. We’d say close your eyes and let this elixir reimagine travel, but you don’t want to miss this color…

Jeppe has been a great friend, and Even More encouraging when it comes to us to doing crazy things. Whether it’s Equilibrium’s first TIPA, Marshmallow as a hoppy adjunct, making a Dragonfruit Blueberry farmhouse ales (More on that soon) or now, taking Even More Unbalanced and adding marshmallows to make it…..Even Less Balanced.
We took one of our most hoppy TIPA recipes and switched up the hops a bit. We used Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, Sabro, Amarillo, and Belma before adding a balanced dose of Marshmallow. Even Less Balanced pours hazy tangerine color with a sweet vanilla and frosted mango nose. The flavor is a tropical fruit blast with a creamy but balanced flavor of vanilla orange cake and marshmallow fluff. A light bitterness rounds out any sweetness and the non-detectable ABV will have you Even Less Balanced in no time.

We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, and Virginia! Today we kick off Project Elevate. A series that combines some of the things we love: beer, photography, and elevating the experience of beer. Each beer in the series will feature an original label (mostly shot by us at EQ using drone technology) that gets us excited to make a beer and elevate the quality of beer. A future sub-series will work with new/experimental products to help elevate beer. Pete’s image of this lightning bolt was captured locally, graces the label on our inaugural can, Joule.
The Joule, named after James Prescott Joule, is a unit of energy equal to the kinetic energy of a kilogram mass moving at the speed of one meter per second. The average bolt of lightning contains roughly one billion (1,000,000,000) joules of energy! This bolt of lightning over green fields reminded us of Pete’s description of this years new crop of galaxy. This got us energized to make our first ever 100% Galaxy TIPA.
Starting off with a base of wheat and oats, Joule is 100% Galaxy hopped in both the whirlpool and dry-hop utilizing our new Victorian Galaxy from Pete’s trip to Australia. We then gave this beer our Energy treatment to extract the most these already superb crop has to offer. The results are delicious. Joule pours glowing yellow with explosive aroma of passionfruit, starfruit, peach, and tangerine. Its flavors are bold with notes of ripe passionfruit, tropical orange, stone fruit, lime zest, and tropical smarties candy. You’ll take flight after a few sips as the 10% ABV is nowhere to be found in this beer. Its escalating juice flavors are brought forward by our Energy treatment and latest processes giving our #EQjuice the spotlight on finish.

dS/dt

on August 13, 2020 No comments

Today at Noon, will sell, dS/dt (8.0 % DIPA) $20 per 4-PK, no limit. We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, and Virginia! (Please follow individual State limits for delivery)
dS/dt is the most technologically advanced DIPA we’ve made to date at any location. At Henry Street, introducing Mass Fluxes into a Control Volume leads to a change in concentration over a change in time or dC/dt, which allows for the construction of a predictive juice model. The gold line on the label is the actual calibrated mathematical model of the EQ juice compared to data in “Relative Yuminess Units” provided by the expert palates of Ryan and OG Kyle. We took the EQ Juice model derived from dC/dt and extrapolated it to produce more EQ Juice using new South Street hardware to bring you dS/dt.
The only ingredients in this beer are pale malt and citra. This DIPA underwent our fractal fermentation and received large doses of citra hops in this new process. dS/dt pours a hazy straw yellow and has aromas of freshly squeezed OJ, rainbow melon, lime, grapefruit, and a tropical character that gives you a vacation in a glass. The flavor is bright tropical orange juice, mango smoothie, dank grass, with a gummy resinous character of our rainbow melon that dances on the pallet, all balanced by a rounded bitterness to keep it refreshing sip-after-sip.

Fractal Strata

on August 12, 2020 No comments

Today at Noon, we will sell, Fractal Strata (6.8 % IPA) $17 per 4-PK, no limit. We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, and Virginia! Fractal Strata investigates the interplay between Strata and our revised hopping processes. A fractal is something simple at the core yet can produce wonderful and amazingly complex results. We use these beers to investigate how different hops manifest through our processes, allowing us to optimize both our use of hops and our hopping techniques.
Fractal Strata pours a hazy yellow releasing complex aromas of both tropical and dank passionfruit, mango and melon with a whiff of sticky green. The taste follows the aroma with a resinous creamy mouthfeel and a firm but rounded bitterness.

dHop 24

on August 11, 2020 No comments

Today at Noon, we will sell dHop 24 (8.0% DIPA) $20 per 4-PK, no limit. We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, and Virginia! dHop 24 is next up in our experimental series that investigates a new hop product to help our production. Flaked oats and wheat give way to a creamy base for the Sabro and BRU-1 whirlpool before dry-hopping it with Citra, Enigma, and BRU-1. dHop 24 pours a bright yellow and has aromas of fruit cocktail, pineapple, lime, honey dew melon, and earth. The flavor is a medley of citrus, pineapple, berries, and a touch of pinot gris. A concoction of luscious fruit awaits before a metamorphosis of escalating juice forward flavors building up into our rainbow melon #EQjuice thing just prior to a pointed but balanced bitter finish.

This is the most EQJuice we’ve been able to pull at such a low ABV.

Super Fractal Marshmallow Set

on August 7, 2020 No comments

Today we will be selling Super Fractal Marshmallow Set (10.0% TIPA) $24 per 4-PK, no limit. We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, and Virginia! We have been enjoying a lot hoppy Marshmallow beers lately so it seemed appropriate to concoct our next Super Fractal Set with the fun textured and super tangled 3-D network of polymer chains of fluffy sweet treats.
Super Fractal Marshmallow Set takes our Super Fractal Fermentation process and a whirlpool of Citra and Simcoe and adds a dry hop of Citra, Galaxy, Simcoe, Sabro before finishing it off with a balanced amount of Marshmallow. SFMS pours a hazy tangerine color with an aroma of an orange push-up ice cream pop dipped in fluff and covered in skittles. Flavors of creamy orange, mango, papaya and a touch of lime come alive with flavors of rainbow skittles and a measured amount of fluffy vanilla marshmallow in a dangerously drinkable #EQjuice finish. The hidden ABV and nostalgic flavor profile will spin you right back to childhood..
