Counterpoise

on February 25, 2021 No comments
At 12 PM today, we will be introducing Counterpoise (8% DIPA) in collaboration with Perennial Artisan Ales at $20 per 4-pk (No Limit). We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, Virginia, Kentucky, and Nebraska!
As we always say, we are beer lovers first. We all got our start as members of the beer community before EQ even existed because it was our passion. Perennial Artisan Ales has paved the way for so many breweries and their name is synonymous with craft beer culture. They are a brewery that has meant so much to us over the years as beer fans and enthusiasts, we are thrilled to release our first collaboration together.
Counterpoise is a factor or force that balances. When we zoomed with Perennial, we discussed making a DIPA with intense tropical notes. Something that reminded us of a warm breeze, bright sun, and longer days. Something to counterpoise the cold winter days.
Starting with a base of oats and wheat we went pretty tropical with the hops. Using a Citra and Sabro whirlpool, we then dry hopped with Citra, Sultana, and Sabro. Pouring a vivid and hazy yellow in color, aromas of a tropical fruit medley greet you before flavors of juicy tangerine, crushed syrupy pineapple, complex coconut, and passionfruit transition to notes of lime wedges, grassy fields, and our rainbow melon thing. This beer is extremely tropical with a nice expression of our #EQjuice finish and should help you get through what we hope are the last few weeks of winter.
We also worked on Sumpthing else with Perennial, that will be ready in a few weeks!

At 12 PM today, we will be introducing dHop30 (8.5 % DIPA) at $20 per 4-pk (No Limit). We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, Virginia, Kentucky, and Nebraska!

The next hop combination for our experimental series is Zappa and Citra. This is the first time we’ve used the relatively new hop Zappa in DIPA form. We started off with flaked oats and white wheat before a whirlpool and dry hop of both Citra and Zappa. dHop30 pours hazy yellow with an aromas of Valencia orange, passion fruit, and grape big league chew. Flavors follow with pops of assorted citrus, complex grape notes, and a touch of dank pine in a luscious body and a nice #EQjuice finish with a balanced pointed bitterness.

Project Elevate

on February 23, 2021 No comments
Available now- We’re super excited to release our first SIPA from Project Elevate – Cotton Candy Skies (7.0 % ABV SIPA) at $20 per 4-pk. We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Kentucky, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, and Virginia. Please follow individual State guidelines on limitations.
We observed a Mesocyclone creating an incredible pink-purple cotton candy looking sky (To download Cotton Candy Skies wallpaper check out the link below). While one explanation for this amazing color is the superposition of pink and dark blue wavelengths from the unique combination of the suns low angle and a super saturated atmosphere from an intense weather system, we think another explanation that we were able to prove at the brewery scale is lots of pink guava, raspberries, blueberries, a touch of lactose and Citra and El Dorado hops.
•Acid Level: Balanced. This is not kettle soured. We used our farmhouse technology to create a very gentle and elegant acid profile.
•Fruit: Refermented to a stable gravity, cold crashed, and separated.
Cotton Candy Sky pours a melted pink-purple cotton candy color releasing tropical purple rain. Aromas and flavors of pristine guava, pears, candied strawberries, and mango dance with assorted berries over a mesocyclone of dragon fruit color supported by a soft well-rounded body. The #BalancedAcidity and touch of bitterness maintain a high level of drinkability.

Keeping Memories

on February 23, 2021 No comments
Today, from our website, we will sell our first Solera beer, Keeping Memories (6% ABV Solera Foeder Farmhouse Ale) a collaboration with @averieswanson of Keeping Together Beer. Available in 750ml ($15) and 375 ml ($10). We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, and Virginia. Please follow individual State guidelines on limitations.
Keeping Memories is our first Solera beer, which uses fractional blending to generate an ale with a unique distribution of aged components. This creates a unique and complex beer with each blend while keeping aspects of style and quality fairly constant.
Every future batch will always have a part of B1 in it and the average age gradually increases over time with each blend, which will add an evolving complexity as the memory packets harmonize with the foeder oak and mixed culture of microorganisms.
While 2020 was particularly challenging time, we take many important lessons that we should remember: listen, inspire, innovate, pause, reflect, connect, commit, appreciate, figure out new ways to live and not let life get in the way of living. To keep these memories and take these lessons forward with us, the 2020 batch of our community beer Unlikely Foragers started the solera process and will be infinitely blended in perpetuity with other batches from our farmhouse program and mixed cultures.
Keeping Memories pours a golden straw yellow with aromas of bright lemon zest, floral fields (that aren’t covered in 2 feet of snow), and a soft touch of oaky vanilla. After breaking through a creamy head, you’ll find crisp flavors of soft lemon, complex stone fruit, lime, grass, and vanilla oak in a creamy mouthfeel and a dry finish. The beer is elegant with a gracious #BalancedAcidity.
This beer will continue to evolve over time if properly cellared.

Roowaka

At 12PM today we will sell, Roowaka (8.0 % DIPA) at $20 per 4-pk (No Limit). We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kentucky, and Virginia! (Please follow individual State limits for delivery).
Roowaka is a beer based off of Pete’s hoppy travels to Australia. Another Kangaroo picture (Yup, we have plenty) graces the label. Roowaka celebrates our love of the South Pacific and shines light on the elusive New Zealand Riwaka and one of our Aussie favorites, Galaxy.
We started with a Fractal fermentation and grain bill. The hop schedule uses a hand selected Citra whirlpool before a heavy dry hop of Riwaka and our lovely Victorian Galaxy. Roowaka pours a straw milky yellow with an aroma of passionfruit, assorted citrus, earthy hay, grassland, and pinch of white pepper. The rollercoaster ride of flavor starts off with notes of earthy white pepper before being quickly transformed into pops of citrus, passionfruit, white grape with, melon, and a touch of berries. Our #EQjuice builds up before ending with a soft and creamy finish with a touch of bitterness.

The 16th snowfall, the long quarantine, busy days at work, the honey-do lists….No matter what it is, we all need a Brain Vacation sometimes. Patrick and Keir came to visit recently and while we were talking about all of the challenges that come with life most recently, we decided to turn this beer into an escape….even its one sip at a time.
Brain Vacation starts off with a bunch of oats and wheat before we hopped it with Citra, Strata, El dorado. We finished this beer off by adding a balanced dose of creamy marshmallow. Pouring tropical yellow with aromas of orange berry creamsicles, Brain Vacation has deep flavors of Florida navel orange, peach flesh, melon, pineapple, and a touch of coconut encompasses by marshmallow fluff. Creamy, juicy, and full bodied this beer is truly the Brain Vacation we all need.

Players 1 – Batch 2 & Barrel Aged Players 1 Coconut Rum Barrel

on February 17, 2021 No comments

This Wednesday, 2/17 at 9am on Eventbrite (link below), we will sell both, Players 1- Batch 2 (11% ABV) $20 per 500ml bottle (Limit 6) AND Barrel Aged Players 1 Coconut Rum Barrel (14% ABV) $26 per 500ML bottle (Limit 1) both collaborations with Three Chiefs Brewing Co. and Mostra Coffee. In Person Proxies are OK for pickup. Please add Eventbrite order number to Pickup or Delivery orders when checking out on our website. No Minimum order for shipping bottles to NY, PA, D.C, OH, VT, ND, NV, NH, KY. NE or VA but please keep in mind the flat rate is in place based on your location. Please claim by 2/24.

Players 1 (Batch 2) is an American Imperial Stout brewed with Madagascar vanilla beans, Fiji cacao nibs, toasted coconut, and Mostra Coffee ghost bear espresso. No lactose was harmed in this beers creation. It pours jet black with a beautiful deep tan head. The dynamics of the relative adjunct strength shift as the beer warms and time lengthens. Batch 2 has the same creamy flavor of some of our favorite things: coffee at first and then a transformation to chocolate brownie batter sprinkled with toasted coconut flakes followed by notes of vanilla-marshmallow to balance it out.

When we first brewed Players Batch 1, we tucked some away into one singular type of barrel that we’ve never used before. This exotic coconut rum barrel held Batch 1 Players for 14 months before we emptied it and conditioned the beer on Madagascar vanilla beans, Fiji cacao nibs, toasted coconut, and Mostra coffee ghost bear espresso.
BA Players 1 Coconut Rum pours pitch black with a tan head. Aromas of deep fudge, coconut, and oak-derived vanilla lead the way into flavors of thick brownie batter melded with a touch of the warmest soul-warming barrel warmth before flavors of young raw coconut flakes, sweet vanilla, and caramelized Caribbean sugar cane blossom into a deep espresso finish. This beer that is thicker than its base with a creamy milk chocolate viscosity.

We recommend enjoying these beers at or near room temperature to experience all the adjuncts have to offer.

Batch 2 of our collab with our Michigan homies is here. This beer started off with a shared love of science and similar brewing principles with Nick and Tommy and came after following their leg of the collab, Tubes, we wanted to follow concept and brew something along the same lines. For Laboratory Tubes we used a combination of Mosaic, Idaho 7, and enigma in the whirlpool and then complemented those hops with a nice dose of Citra for the dry hop. Laboratory Tubes pours bright straw yellow, has notes of mango, lemon meringue, citrus, pine and light tropical fruits. Compared to SOTL, It’s soft and creamy with a more dank and saturated #EQjuice flavor profile.

dS/dt

on February 15, 2021 No comments

Today at 12 PM, we will sell dS/dt (8% DIPA) at $20 per 4-PK, no limit. We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kentucky, and Virginia! (Please follow individual State limits for delivery)

dS/dt is our latest innovation in technological hop advancements. At Henry Street, introducing Mass Fluxes into a Control Volume leads to a change in concentration over a change in time or dC/dt, which allows for the construction of a predictive juice model (which is now on select glassware!). The gold line on the label is the actual calibrated mathematical model of the EQ juice compared to data in “Relative Yuminess Units” provided by the expert palates of Ryan and OG Kyle. We took the EQ Juice model derived from dC/dt and extrapolated it to produce more EQ Juice using new South Street hardware to bring you dS/dt. The only ingredients in this beer are pale malt and Citra. This DIPA underwent our fractal fermentation and received large doses of Citra hops in our South Street process.

dS/dt pours a hazy straw yellow and has aromas of freshly squeezed OJ, rainbow melon, lime, grapefruit, and a tropical character that gives you a vacation in a glass. The flavor is bright tropical orange juice, mango smoothie, dank grass, with a gummy resinous character of our rainbow melon that dances on the pallet, all balanced by a rounded bitterness to keep it refreshing sip-after-sip.dS/
