Laboratory Waves

on January 31, 2020 No comments

This Saturday 02/01, starting at 11:30am at 2 South Street, Laboratory Waves will be making a splash again (10.2 % ABV TIPA). $22 per 4-pk, 1 case per person, limits subject to change.

Science and experimentation continue here at the brewery and we are happy to bring you a new batch of Laboratory Waves. It has everything you love in SOTL with a balanced amount of lactose added, creating a beer with an even softer and creamier finish. It pours a hazy and very bright tangerine with aromas of freshly squeezed citrus, lime and grapefruit and a tropical fruit character and an overall aroma that mimics island tiki drinks. The flavor is absolutely tremendous with notes of bright tropical orange juice, super ripe mango smoothie, and dank grass. The finish is constantly evolving in your mouth with an extremely bright and creamy tropical fruit popsicle thing happening.
Comments from our brewers and team have this batch of beer as one of our biggest #EQjuice bombs yet.
Caution: Max juice ahead. 🧃

dHop6

on January 31, 2020 No comments

This Saturday 02/01, starting at 11:30am at 2 South Street, dHop 6 will be making a splash again (8.0 % ABV DIPA). $20 per 4-pk, 1 case per person, limits subject to change.

MC² is a very important beer to us at Equilibrium. We are very happy with the balance of flavor and drinkability and hence why MC² was promoted to our Equilibrium series. We wanted to continue to have fun with it.
dHop 6 is the closest thing we will make to DDH MC². We kept everything the same but increased the dry hop dosing with the same hops at the same ratio, just more. dHop 6 pours a very hazy tangerine color, releasing dank and bright tropical notes of mango, guava, peach, earth, pineapple and berry with a touch of weed. dHop 6 tastes like succulent hop juice with a round velvety mouthfeel and for the first time, our signature #EQjuice finish.

Dual Singularity

on January 31, 2020 No comments

This Saturday 02/01, starting at 11:30am at 2 South Street, we’ll be releasing Dual Singularity (12% Imperial Stout), a collab with our buds from The Eighth State Brewing Company . $18 per 500 ml bottle, Limit 4pp, limit subject to change.
With a divided frosted face, the Black and White cookie reminded us of the two galactic planes that follow the big-bang model of space, the Galactic Singularity Engine, where condensed galactic matter, time, and entropic energy are combined and start a new cycle by using dual free energy or in our case, Chocolate and Vanilla!
We wanted to make an Imperial Stout that paid homage to one of NY’s famous cookies.

We brewed up a thiccc base, added Fiji and Bolivia cacoa nibs, Madagascar and Tahitian Vanilla and 30 lbs of Black and White Cookies finished with a touch of lactose. The aroma is vanilla bean mixed with chocalate chunks and is reminiscent of a true black and white cookie. Upon first sip, you’ll get a deep dark roasty chocalate flavor included with sweet vanilla with an incredibly decadent mouthfeel. The linger of the dark chocolate finish cuts through the sweetness and gets you ready for the next sip. This beer is best enjoyed with a galactic Black and White cookie on the side!

Middletown Waves

on January 23, 2020 No comments

This Saturday 01/25, starting at 11:30 AM at 2 South Street, we will be bringing back Middletown Waves. $22 per four pack, limit one case per person.

Continuing with all things Middletown, we bring back an in-house fave. Middletown Waves (10% ABV) takes one of our favorite triples, Straight out of Middletown,
and adds a balanced amount of lactose and a heavy dose of oats showcasing an even thicker and creamier finish. With the mosaic and citra hop bill still being the star of the show, it pours a very murky tangerine color and releases aromas of fresh squeezed orange juice and earthy grass. The taste is resinous dank-citrus, light pine and orange push-pops. It has a rounded bitterness and a chewy but creamy mouth feel. The #EQjuice finish is very prominent and this beer drinks like a juicy orange creamsicle. Think dHop 2 supersized with a luscious orange sherbet finish. Pairs extremely well with Calcifer’s BBQ!

Barrel Aged Reverse Migration

on January 23, 2020 No comments

This Saturday 01/25, starting at 11:30am at 2 South Street, we are extremely proud to bring you Barrel Aged Reverse Migration (12 % ABV Imperial Stout) made with our friends from 3 Sons Brewing Co.. $22 per 500ml bottle. Limit 1 Bottle PP. Limit subject to change to zero.

We took Reverse Migration, our first pastry stout made with Bolivian cacoa, toasted coconut, and a touch of coffee from our friends at Boonton Coffee Co and let it sit in ONE select Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel for almost one year to the day to achieve some incredible results. BARM pours dark and viscous releasing potent cocoa and coconut aromas with a touch of roasted coffee. Upon your first sip you’ll get tremendous deep chocolate flavors sprinkled with coconut flakes with a light note of coffee before the beautiful kiss of the bourbon barrel finish sneaks up with caramel notes on the already decadent finish.

Cliff notes: This beer is a Mounds bar sprinkled with coffee and caramel.
No lactose was harmed in this beers creation.

Rock Fantasy

on January 23, 2020 No comments

This Saturday 01/18, starting at 11:30AM at 2 South Street, we are bringing back Rock Fantasy (7.5% ABV DIPA) made with friends, Verdant Brewing Co . $20 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limit subject to change.
To continue celebrating all things Middletown, we couldn’t think of a more deserving beer than Rock Fantasy for batch 420!

Now going on its 34th year in business, Rock Fantasy is in a new spot that’s just a few doors down from our new location and we are neighbors again. Rock Fantasy is our favorite place to play pinball, dig in the vinyl crates, and buy some artsy glass all while the dreamy smell of patchouli fills the air. We suggest everyone check it out as part of the Middletown tour!

Rock Fantasy starts off with big dose of wheat and oats and used a matching hop bill for both the whirlpool and dry hop featuring equal amounts Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, Enigma, Galaxy, and Nelson.
Just like its namesake, it’s another total blast with a variety of flavors exhibiting tropical citrus, berry, and melon upfront. This batch is danker too as we amped things up for batch #420. The finish is soft and juicy with a beautiful mouthfeel and our big #EQjuice ending. It’s another super fun beer named after a super fun place.
We want to thank Stephen Keeler, the brainchild and owner of @rockfantasyconcertshop for being a great neighbor and always welcoming us and our out of town guests with open arms. Stephen will be set up at the brewery on Saturday playing some metal and selling some Rock Fantasy goods!

Shared Space Boysenberry

on January 23, 2020 No comments

This Saturday 01/18, starting at 11:30AM at 2 South Street, we are proud to release bottles of Shared Space Boysenberry (6.0% Wild Ale) for sale. $18 per 750ml bottle/ $10 per 375ml bottle (limit 6 pp on each). Limit subject to change.

With Equilibrium Brewery focusing on the liquid, and Equilibrium Bonfire focusing on the food, our Shared Space will be a junction of good beer, good eats and most importantly, good people. A sense of community and belonging is something we pride ourselves on here and we are happy to introduce our first iteration of the series to commemorate that.

Shared Space Boysenberry is a blended wild ale brewed and copious amounts of boysenberries. We started off brewing two separate bases that could be thought of as cousins of Austin and TABA before conditioning it on more than 3.5 lbs of fruit per gallon and adding additional strains of Brettanomyces. It pours a beautiful magenta purple and has an intoxicating berry aroma. Shared space is incredibly complex with a bold and jammy boysenberry flavor supported by a gentle tartness and very balanced acidity. This beer is a favorite right out of the gate, but will continue to evolve in proper cellar conditions.

Straight Outta Middletown

on January 10, 2020 No comments

This Saturday 01/11, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we will be selling cans of Straight Outta Middletown (10.00% ABV TIPA). $22 per 4-pk, 1 case per person, limits subject to change.

We are proud to be a part of the resurgence happening in downtown Middletown. More and more businesses are choosing Middletown as home and we are pumped to have so many new neighbors. To help continue breaking in our new space on South Street and to commemorate all of the awesome things happening here, we wanted to bring back, Straight Outta Middletown. SOM is dHop2s big brother. dHop2 is a DIPA that investigates the interplay between our ale strain and an intensive Mosaic and Citra forward hop bill woven four times into its creative process. It pours a very murky tangerine color, releasing notes of orange juice (with pulp) and earthy grass. The taste is highly resinous, dank-citrus, pine juice, with a chewy mouth feel and a firm and pointed bitterness along with our signature EQ Juice finish.

Shaved Kangaroo

on January 10, 2020 No comments

This Saturday 01/11, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we are releasing Shaved Kangaroo (10.25 % ABV TIPA). $22 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.
When we started making beer in 2009, we kept a list of names that we found funny. Top among those names, Shaved Kangaroo, has not become a beer until now for two reasons: 1) we were too embarrassed that we found it funny; and 2) the scarcity of Pacific Hops from Australia and New Zealand: Galaxy and Nelson. We have come to terms with our limited sense of humor and our hop suppliers and are pleased to bring you Shaved Kangaroo – with tasting notes of “Smooth and Hoppy”.
During this beer’s life cycle from malted barley sugars, water, hops, and yeast to beer, 10’s of millions of acres have burned across Australia in the one of the country’s worst fire seasons on record. We will use this release to call attention to these unfortunate events happening there in an effort to help raise money for relief efforts. We will be raffling off some good prizes at this Saturday’s release with 100% of the proceeds being donated to firefighting efforts in Australia.
Shaved Kangaroo starts off with a 2-row, oat malt, flaked oat, and torrefied wheat base and a whirlpool of Strata and Citra. The dry hop is exclusively loaded with some of our favorite pacific hops: Nelson and Galaxy. Shaved Kangaroo pours a vivid yellow orange with a crazy tropical dank aroma. It’s a super “smooth and hoppy” flavor explosion of tropical citrus, pineapple, clementine, gummy fruit snack candy, and red starburst. This beer is sweet and tropical with notes of white grape on the end with a big down under #EQjuice finish that will put a hoppy smile on your face and have you hopping around in no time!

Super Fractal Phoenix Set

on January 9, 2020 No comments

This Saturday 01/11, starting at 11:30am at 2-8 South Street, we are happy to introduce a new collaboration with The Eighth State Brewing Company, Super Fractal Phoenix Set (10.5 % ABV TIPA). $22 per four pack. Limit 1 case per person, limits subject to change.

When Cameron was up from South Carolina we knew we would be making a big imperial Black and White Cookie stout (a few more weeks on that). While we were talking recipes over some Fractal pours, we had the crazy idea to scale Fractal up 3x to create a crazy smooth crushable TIPA and SFPS was born!

The Phoenix set consists of values such that an arbitrarily small change can cause drastic changes in the sequence of iterated function values (duh) resulting in beautiful shapes and lots of spirals. Keeping with our fractal tradition, we started off with a super simple grain bill of 2row and our specific fractal fermentation profile. We used a big Citra and Idaho 7 whirlpool with some of our favorite hops in the dry hop: Citra, Sabro, Strata, and Galaxy. Super Fractal Phoenix Set pours an opaque yellow tangerine and has a big citrus nose. The flavors are a unique blend of tropical fruits, citrus, “our melon thing”, passionfruit, and an underlying dankness. This beer is extremely aromatic, crushable and smooth with an EXTREME #EQjuice profile that might just leave you seeing beautiful shapes and spirals.
