The whale of hops, Riwaka is named after the small settlement in the Tasman District of New Zealand’s South Island. Due to the climate needed for growth and a smaller production yield, it’s one of the most coveted hops from New Zealand. Riwaka’s abundant oil content is nearly twice that of its parent variety Saaz. With its high oil content and a 1:1 ratio of alpha to beta acids, this hop is known its strong sweet citrus notes and extreme flavor.
We love TIPA’s and we love Riwaka, so you know we had to do it. We wove Riwaka three times into the process of our Even More Unbalanced grain bill to create something stunning. Waka³ pours bright tangerine with aromas of oranges gummy slices, lemon wedges, and fresh cut grass. Its flavor is explosive with bright notes of orange juice, marmalade, limeade drink, earthy grass, and Smarties candy with a white pepper bite and an earthy grass component that complements the bright juicy elements. This beer is smooth for its size and the #EQjuice finish greats you after an explosion of flavors.

More to come!

Transatlantic Songbird

We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, and Virginia. We teamed up with Cloudwater to bring you Transatlantic Songbird. A beer that signifies both Paul’s love of Kenny G tunes and our friendship with the Cloudwater crew, which spans across an entire ocean. At any given festival (remember those?), Paul from Cloudwater could be found playing the smooth sounds of Kenny G., so when we Zoomed with Cloudwater a few weeks back, we had “Songbird” playing for everyone. Transatlantic Songbird takes a simple 2-row grain bill and applies a heavy dose of a Riwaka. This is the first time this elusive hop has been used for 100% of the hopbill in an Equilibrium India Pale Ale.
Transatlantic Songbird pours vivid firefly yellow and has beautiful aroma of citrus, lemon balm, passionfruit, New Zealand white pepper, and fresh cut grass. Its flavors are bright with notes of kumquat, lemongrass, and stone fruit. A white pepper bite wrapped in a creamy finish balances a pop of bitterness to maintain high drinkability. We find this beer to be really fun and a great showcase of what Riwaka has to offer. This beer is full of flavor and is as smooth and easy drinking as your favorite Kenny G playlist.

Gin Barrel Aged Unlikely Foragers

We will have this available with options for curbside pickup at the brewery or delivery throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, and Virginia. This was brewed in May 2019, right after our yearly dandelion blossom forage. We let this beer evolve in Barr Hill Tom Cat Gin barrels with select Brettanomyces strains for almost a year. Following its transformation, we further bottle conditioned it for 3 months prior to its release. The resulting liquid pours a golden yellow with a billowy head. It’s delicate and beautifully balanced with layered flavors of Meyer lemon, pie spice, juniper berry and assorted botanicals, a beautiful barrel presence, and a purposeful touch of balanced acidity. This beer will continue to evolve over time if properly cellared.

Using one of our favorite crops of Galaxy yet, we are happy to have this beer back. Fractal Mosaic / Galaxy investigates the interplay between two of our favorite hops in a combination that seems timeless.
Fractal Mosaic / Galaxy pours a resinous-hazy-straw yellow releasing complex aromas of intense citrus, mango, assorted berry, earthy grass, and nice melon notes. The taste is resinous, dank pineapple orange juice with a hint of pine. The finish is big and juicy and has a light rounded bitterness.
